Outsourcing a helping hand for message management
A survey by Mori for BT has shown that a staggering three out of four European and American IT directors are unaware or even incapable of calculating total cost of ownership for their current message management infrastructure. It was alongside findings that financial services firms wanted or at least intended to increase budget for secure messaging.
The next three years will see more spending from the firms for email protection and other security measures to prevent attacks. A corresponding increase is also anticipated in compliance costs over the next three years.
A drop in message management cost is seen for those firms using or at least taking into consideration the use of third party suppliers to manage their mail. To take things further, one out of 5 respondents who were using or were considering outsourcing showed more confidence in being able to meet regulatory requests to provide a 3-year audit trail within 48 hours. Messaging support for most of the organizations included in the survey came in the form of multiple suppliers, while more than half used more than 1 supplier, with almost one in five utilizing more than four of these.
