Offshoring strategy reviewed due to A&O target trouble
One of London’s top five firms, Allen & Overy (A&O) has initiated reviews of its India ‘offshoring’ venture in the face of logistical problems. A&O has encountered issues in reaching targets for outsourced document production.
A&O had originally aimed for an 80% outsourcing of its document management to a Chennai, India-based specialist. Currently however, only more than half of the workload is being outsourced with additional checkers needed to be brought in at times.
The strategy, which has been in effect since 2003 is in need of improvements especially with the logistical hurdles underestimated.
A&O business services director David Adamson has expressed confidence in resolving the problem, but also conceded that considering the case for moving document production to the UK regions.
