Philippine Outsourcing Needs to View Alternatives

Outsourcing seems to thrive now here in the Philippines but in due time, the momentum of outsourcing would soon fade because of the tough competition from other countries particularly in India and China. This is the viewpoint of Lawrence Hughes, chairman and chief technology officer of Infoweapons when asked about outsourcing in the Philippines.

Although this is his prediction, there is still another industry that could be the source of economic growth in the Philippines. Hughes said that investing in product-based companies is much more productive rather than focusing in outsourcing in the Philippines. He mentioned that manufacturing local products that could be exported to other countries like Europe and US would generate more revenues.

Hughes made his company, Infoweapons an example for his proposal saying that his firm as well as other Cebu IT firms could create products that are globally competitive products. He also mentioned that the US Department of Defense even praised the watershed in Cebu stating that the product is years ahead of the similar product in the worldwide market. The chairman also said that open source software could be an alternative for the Philippine economy and better-suited too!
